Object

Focus is built around a simple act of suspension. Two sweeping pieces of bent plywood rise from the floor while cognac leather hangs between them, creating a seat without the visual weight of a conventional upholstered chair. The structure remains open, the materials remain visible, and almost nothing interrupts the line from floor to backrest.

There is something particularly relaxed about this kind of 1970s Scandinavian modernism. The strict geometry of earlier decades begins to loosen, allowing the body to sit lower and the leather to move naturally with it. Wood bends, leather gives, and the chair seems to find its shape somewhere between structure and gravity.

Manufacturer

Bramin Møbler was a Danish furniture manufacturer based in Bramming, Denmark, and became particularly associated with the refined furniture of the postwar decades. Its production belonged to a period when Danish design was travelling far beyond Scandinavia, bringing together skilled woodworking, carefully considered proportions and an increasingly relaxed approach to modern living.

The Focus Lounge Chair captures that moment beautifully. Bent plywood and suspended leather reduce the chair to a few expressive elements, creating an object that feels distinctly of the 1970s while remaining remarkably easy to place in a contemporary interior.

Condition
